NEC

Assisting NEC’s bid to participate in BT’s Broadband plans

NEC was invited to bid to partner a major telecoms operator to design, build and rollout a broadband service delivery platform. Whilst it had great product expertise, its felt it could supplement its insights with expertise from a team of UK telecoms and multimedia experts.

David led a team that provided key input to its proposal to enter a joint venture with a major telecommunications operator in building narrow and broadband platforms, from which to offer multimedia services to SME and consumer segments. David and his team analysed market opportunities for a multimedia services, from end user and operator perspectives. This enabled NEC to develop its response, within tight timescales, to the opportunity to become the partner of an operator in the development and roll-out of multi media services, across mid and high-band service delivery platforms. The team delivered perceptive insights and high quality material for the proposal, and delighted the client.

These insights were used to inform assumptions on future market evolution, covering competitive positioning and share with satellite service delivery platforms, ‘killer’ applications, and price levels in the market. This produced a model of ‘high, medium and low’ market and revenue projections for the joint venture.

David and his team enabled NEC bid at a significantly higher level of quality and perception, than would have been the case without the team’s expertise and insight
